Netball Tournament
Back
On Tuesday 8th October, Balgowan took three teams to the Bromley Schools Games Netball competition. There were 30 teams (over 200 children!) in total and everyone was excited to play some proper netball and hoped they would win!
C TEAM The C team came 2nd in their pool and won 2 from 3 matches. Our defence and attack was strong, as well as the centre. We found it very fun as we had great team players and everyone was cheering, it motivated us to try our hardest and be resilient. We went on to play another 3 friendlies where we won each time. This was our team: Elijah, Charlotte, Zara, Emily, Isobel (captain), Eleanor, Louis and Jonas
B TEAM In the tournament we played 4 teams, winning two games and losing two. Due to our strong record, we still came second in our group. We played exceptionally well here are the positions and who played. Players: Matilda, Flo, Maya, Eliana (Captain), Chiara, Ethan C and Ethan H Here are the scores: 1-0 win (Ethan H scored that); 2-0 win (Flo and Chiara our goal scorers); 3-0 loss; 1-0 loss from an amazing goal in the last 30 seconds (fair play to them!) Everyone played exceptionally well and we were proud of our results and how we represented the school.
A TEAM The Balgowan A team did a really good job. We won every game in our pool and qualified for the quarter finals leading to winning the whole competition. Overall we did incredibly, scoring 24 goals in total. With everyone doing amazing, scoring and blocking goals we kept a clean sheet in every match. Josh scored a whopping nine goals, Herve’son and Alexander both scored four with Alice close behind scoring three. Defensively, we were great with Aniya in Goal Keeper and Goal Defence. Starring in Centre, was Maisie and Eloise, who always gave the centre pass to a teammate and acting as playmakers extraordinaire! We are very proud of our achievement as Bromley Schools Champions! Written by Isobel, Eliana, Maya, Emily, Aniya and Maisie.
The children trained extremely hard for the competition, coming into school early, never letting the cold (and often wet!) mornings dampen their enthusiasm nor their effort. Not only did they play brilliantly, but displayed great teamwork and sportsmanship throughout. Children congratulated opponents on their successes when we lost and were great sports in victory. Very proud teachers - well done to all children involved! Mr Slater and Miss Clark
