Bromley Games Final - Netball 2023 On Thursday 16th November we took seven year 6 children to the Bromley Netball Finals at Harris Academy Beckenham to determine who would represent Bromley Borough at the London Youth Games. At the finals, there were five teams including us who had qualified through from the regional Bromley competition so we knew we were up against the best of Bromley. These teams were from Oaklodge, Farnborough, Southborough and St. James’. After school, we met up outside the Harris sports hall where we had a quick warm up before going into our first game against Oaklodge. After a close first half (2-1),the Balgowan team managed to pull away thanks to some amazing attacking play from Kian and Isla to win 5-1. In our second game, we managed to win 7-0 against Farnborough with many good goals by Kate, Darcey and Will. In our third game, it was difficult to score as they were strong defensive-wise, yet we still managed to score, winning 2-0 against Southborough. Next we were onto our final game against St James, St James’ had won all of their matches as well, so this was the match that determined who would represent Bromley at the London Youth Games. We started off well in the first half scoring 2 good goals even though they were a tough opponent. Knowing that they weren’t far behind, we had to keep working hard to score more goals. Due to the brilliant play from Nell and Monty, both attacking and defensively, we managed to win 4-1 making us the winners and progressing onto the London Youth Games. At the end, they announced the winners and because we won all of our games we got to raise the trophy at the end. Overall, it was a very fun competition and we look forward to the London Youth Games.
